Weeds

I really like the show Weeds which is on Showtime.  I don't get Showtime so I watch it on DVD when it comes out.  I just got disc 2 and 3 of Season 3.  I already watched disc 2, or so I thought I did.  There were two more episodes on there!  I totally missed them.  This show builds on each episode.  Now I am reading the plot lines of the two episodes on Wikipedia.  I was watching the "previously on" and I was like when the heck did all this happen.  I thought I had the wrong disc.  Nope, didn't watch episodes 4 and 5.   

Definitely, Maybe

I will never, ever, watch a rented romantic comedy, drama, etc. that Justin doesn't want to watch on the couch again.  Watching movies in bed on my computer with headphones on is a much better movie viewing experience.  I highly recommend it.  It is comfortable and cozy.  Justin can't mock the cheesy dialog because he can't hear it.  It all works out.

I just watched Definitely, Maybe.  It was good enough to deserve a rental.  It provoked a tear, not like that is hard to do lately, but still.

Now I am tired, and I am already in bed, so I just have to shut the computer and I am good to go.

I can grow food!

So this bright sun and lack of rain has been killing my flowers.  I got quite a few to bloom, but it had been raining so frequently that I hadn't need to water them.  Now I have to remember to water every day and it doesn't happen.  Ava has been helping out in the back yard with our plants.  She dumps water on them from her water table.  It also helps that the hose is out back, when it comes to me watering them.  I now have quite a few little green tomatoes, tons of blossoms for my cucumber plant and a bunch for my one pepper plant that hasn't been eaten by rabbits or destroyed in storms.  I have set up little trellises for the cucumber plant, but it doesn't want to grow up them.  It wants to hang off the side of the pot, which means it wants to be eaten by rabbits.  I wonder if it knows that I question the trellis's ability to support the cucumbers....

Ava had fun yesterday for the 4th.  I think watching a drive way light show helped her not be afraid of the fireworks, since a few weeks ago at the Cougar's game, she decided she didn't like them at all.  She did fall asleep during the main show and slept through the finale.  We are heading out today to a water park with my brother and his wife.  We will see if she likes it.

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

I finished the The Time Traveler's Wife.  It was awesome.  I honestly haven't read such a good book in a long time.  I definitely just put it in the modern literature catagory.  The character development was amazing.  It was so in depth.  The author describes everything in such detail that you can picture each moment.  I definitely recommend this book.

It is about a man who randomly jumps around in time and the life he has with his wife.  I know, not very specific, but if I were to say more, I would feel like I am giving things away.  It takes place in Chicago, so if you are at all familiar with this city, it will be even easier for you to visualize.  Ok, that is all I have to say.  Go read it.

The state of our relationship

Justin finds a few sucked on Mike and Ike's on a cd case on the end table, neither of which belong on the end table.

J:  Ewww.  Who left her sucked on candy on my cd case?

M (laughing): Who do you think?

J: You, actually.

Ava, the waiting room champion

We had two different doctor's appointments today in the same office.  Ava had a physical at 2:45.  We get there right on time and get taken into a room.  We then wait for 45 minutes for the doctor.  15 minutes later we are all done.  So it is 3:45.  My appointment is at 4:10.  Not really enough time to make it worth going anywhere in between.  Meanwhile I have promised Ava that we can go to the park when we are all done with the doctors.  I check in and then begins the waiting.  (She had started watching 101 Dalmations on her DVD player when we were waiting in the room during her appointment.)  She played and colored in the waiting room and eventually got bored and started watching her movie again.  They call us into a room at 4:50.  I wait in the room for my 3 minute doctor appointment.  We finished at 5:15.  Ava had enough time to finish the entire movie.  She did really well.  She did not forget about the park.  I said, "Ok, we are all done.  Let's  go."  She said, "Ok!  Let's go to the park to play!"  She was patient enough to let us go home, eat dinner, and then we went to the park.  At least we still had time to be able to follow through on the promise.

Ava weighs 24 pounds 4 ounces.
I weigh enough.  I have gained 2 pounds in 2 months.

I finally finished my blanket that I have been working on (off and on, but it still was an extensive project) since January. 

The blanket's pattern is called the "Heirloom blanket."  I am supposed to weave ribbon through the edging, I tried it and didn't like how it looked with it, so I have decided to forgo it.  The blanket is made of this yarn I got from www.knitpicks.com.  After seeing the end results, it makes question why on earth I have or will continue to make anything from the synthetic yarns.  The way this blanket drapes is like a really nice sweater.  It reminds me of a throw from my grandma's house.   I tried to take pictures to show the drape but that is very difficult to do.
